“Elegance is the only beauty that never fades.”

“I believe in pink. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. And I believe in miracles.”

“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others. For beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness. And for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”

“The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. The caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she knows. The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years.”

-Audrey Hepburn

"Braids, Braids, Gorgeous Braids"

I love a good braid, it symbolizes how wrapped up I am in my day's agenda...so wrapped up that I only had time to take my sweet bull dog, Morgan, out for a potty break, hit the gym for 30 minutes, gypsy shower (hair tied up in a top not), and paint my face professionally to no scare away my Patients at work.

So yes, on a wrapped up day where everything is trying to tangle me up...I turn to my "go-to" hairstyle, a braid! There are so many gorgeous ways to braid your hair, and the compliments keep coming as you giggle to youreslf; " if they only knew my hair has not been washed in two days, I oppted for my arms pits and lady parts - you are welcome, and this literally only took me 5 minutes."

If you do not know how to braid your own hair, then sit your pretty self down in front of a mirror with a YouTube how to braid your hair for "smarties" and get to work. Believe me, I use to not know how to braid my hair either. I would beg my half alive zombie big sister to braid my hair before school, and one day after I was finally fed up needing her. I friviously pulled, twisted, and tied my hair into some interesting looking creations, and well...as you can see in the photos above, I finally figured it out-plus or minus some additional cool creations!

Be BOLD wear a BRAID!

"Go Bold W-Center Part"

No time to style your hair, yet you still want to uphold your personal standard of "looking on point?" Grab a comb with a pointed end, create center part, brush hair smooth and secure at nap of neck with a hair-tie. Then quickly wrap in tight towel dried bun and secure with a second hair-tie. Finish with a hair gel or fine hairspray for "insta-wow factor" when you role into work on time and on point!

"I am obsessed with polka dots and strips"

Go into your boyfriend's closet and borrow his striped button up and slide on a polka dot pencil skirt for immediate wow factor! Men push your inner GQ model by wearing polka dot socks with that way to conservative suit for a pop of fun. If you are feeling really bold pair a polka dot blue tie with a light blue striped button up and watch the compliments come flying your way from both genders!

It's okay to look like you are in jail with chicken pox, "I do it for fashion!"

"Jumbo Shrimp, Hot/Cold, Edgy Elegance"

When it comes to fashion, one of the best parts is waking up and wearing watch matches your mood. Sometimes you are feeling a little worn down emotionally and gravitate toward a soft cashmere sweater, yet your inner drive is courageous no matter your emotional battle. Or maybe you feel restricted due to corporate conservative ideals and want to let your inner vixen peep out. This can be reflected in the "hard yet soft" clothing piece combos. Think of the common cliche of the black leather jacket atop a delicate white dress, but now push the boundaries...Here are some ways I love to say "f-you" this is me and this is what I feel.

It's not healthy to hold in emotions, express them in a artistic way!

"Earrings and Necklaces Outside of the Box"

What girl does not like to honor her inner princess? Think outside of the box when it comes to adorning your head with jewels. Take those heavy chandelier earrings and two bobby pins and pin one 5" above your ear and the other offset at 4" (see 4th photo above). Another creative way to make use of those expensive or costume jewels is take a necklace and reverse it starting at the crown of your head, letting it sag to the lower part of the back of the head, secure it with a few bobby pins (see last photo bottom right #9). New Year's event? Prom? Or a fancy fundraiser? The night before pull out your collection of jewelry and play "princess" dress-up, pair the look with an elegant simplistic long dress for a balanced final presentation (see photo #8).

“Fish Out of Water”

How to take your swimwear into the day/evening and not look like a “fish out of water.” How I happened to discover the idea of wearing swimwear out to dinner.

While finishing up a two week stent of vacation: Vancouver for a night - Alaskan Cruise 7 days - Seattle for a night- train down to Portland; I had a sexy pair of long flowing see through pants I was dying to wear. The pants have sheer legs and black undershorts. I needed a simple grey, white or black top to wear with them, but with this trip in its last leg, all options were dirty…

So, I dug around my suitcase that I had been living out of like a gipsy and my hand landed upon my black one-piece swimsuit with black leather accents near the shoulders and a zipper in the center. Perfect! I shimmied into it, as my boyfriend stared and commented, “Are you wearing a swimsuit?” Confidently I responded, “Hey, if you saw me at a bar and had no idea I was wearing a swimsuit…would you think this outfit was hot?” He paused, “yeah, you are probably right.”

To that, I walked into the bathroom and began applying a bold orange colored lip hue to add some pop to my outfit. Then I finished off the look with straight sleek hair and a white blazer. Even better, Portland is one of the most quirky edgy cities when it comes to fashion. If you want to color your hair, sport black lipstick, wear ornate tights or like me push the fashion boundaries, then you are warmly welcomed when you hit the streets of Portland!

Now go pull open your swimsuit drawer, make yourself a homemade mojito and invite your girlfriends over for some mix and match swim/day/evening wear ideas. Best part, in case you get invited to a pool party or a weekend in South Beach, you are all set to jet!

"Mens' Ware as Women Dare"

Have you even watched a really really well dressed man walk by, and thought to yourself, "if only I were a guy, I would have the most fashionalbe wardrobe!" Or you find yourself circling the Men's Pink store practically drooling at the "candy-like" collection of ties that perfectly line the walls. I decided to honor my inner masculinity and rock out some really "handsome" attire.

From high waisted pants with suspenders, to a basic white button up blouse with a classic bow-tie left undone, there are so many directions you can go with, if you dare... I enjoy wearing my favorite louis vuittion brown colored menswear shoes in the summer with my jeans rolled up a bit showing a little sexy ankle skin. In the winter I pair them with colored tights and a basic grey wool dress. It is limitless how you mix and match masculine details to add an edge to your wardrobe!
